Urban Conservation Corps (UCC)

The YouthBuild Louisville Urban Conservation Corps (YBL UCC) is a team of AmeriCorps members who learn green jobs skills through community service, environmental education, and hands-on job training experiences. Over their year of service, our members build essential workforce skills for the green sector of Louisville, Kentucky.

Our service projects focus on conservation in the urban environment and engaging underserved local communities with nature. Some examples of our service projects include clearing invasive species from public lands, trail building, community tree planting, native landscape installation and maintenance, and practicing sustainable urban agriculture. We work with a variety of other green nonprofit organizations in the Louisville area to connect our members with meaningful service opportunities and learning experiences.

Young adults in the Louisville area, ages 18-24, who have their high school diploma or GED and an interest in environmental stewardship can become a UCC member. If you’re interested in our program but don’t yet have your GED, you can earn it through our onsite program, YouthBuild Louisville.
